PROMPTS:

1. MYRKR
You (and your friends) are running from voxyn, reptilian hounds that can sense and are trained to hunt Force-sensitives. Their abilities and weapons include sonic blasts, flesh-melting acid, disease-coated claws and a poisonous barbed tail. Jedi have died in the hands of these creatures. You have been warned.

2. MYRKR (AGAIN)
You've crash-landed and... you can't use the Force. At least while you're around ysalamiri, lizard-like tree-dwellers native to the planet. They create Force-neutral bubbles and, together, can even expand their reach to kilometers. Oh well, you didn’t need the Force, right?

3. SERNPIDAL
There's a religious festival going on, something about the moon, and then things start to get weird because... they're saying the moon is getting bigger? Wait, no, it's getting bigger because it's being pulled towards the planet by a gravity field generating plant called a dovin basal and HOLY KRIFF WE'RE GOING TO DIE.

4. HAPES
Your boat is sinking, and you're surrounded by carnivorous seaweed. Their tentacles are thick, green and rubbery, with long thorns, and are used to strangle their victims (yay!). When cut, the tentacles ooze a syrupy green liquid (double yay!). Plus they have large red flowers, with blue fruits in the center that resemble eyes (yay yay yay!). Good luck!

5. CORUSCANT, AKA YUUZHAN'TAR
This place used to be the Senate Building of Coruscant, but now it's the Well of the World Brain, a creepy underground alien jungle. A hedge maze of alien trees line the front entrance; they're as resilient as durasteel, and contain toxin-filled needles from the size of a thumb to a forearm. If you wander further in, you'll eventually come across the World Brain — actually a dhuryam, a telepathic alien creature in charge of running the entire planet. It takes slaves, by the way, so you might want to check if you got implanted with a slave seed in your chest.

6. THE GRAVEYARD
It looks to be a thick asteriod belt, but it’s actually the remains of the planet Alderaan, obliterated by the Empire’s superweapon, the Death Star. After the planet’s destruction, many Alderaanian exiles would shoot capsules filled with gifts for their friends and family, and those who call themselves the Guardians take to patrolling the area to prevent pirates from stealing the capsules.

Jacob Johnson | A Nightmare on Elm Street

((I've got two AU arcs for him, and the first picks up at the end of the Clone Wars. Jacob is a Jedi padawan who specialized in Force healing. He managed to survive Order 66, and laid low for a few years, mostly learning how to hide his presence in the Force and come to terms with what he already knew: that the Jedi Order got exactly what they deserved. And while he had begun to shed the Jedi groupthink from the moment the Clone Army was put into action, his need to be part of something bigger hadn't really gone anywhere. So, in an act of defiance against his past, he joined the Imperial Navy, becoming an electrical and firmware shipboard engineer for the Imperial I Star Destroyer class. Of course, he didn't go unnoticed forever, and the Emperor hated to see wasted talent, so he reassigned him. Jacob didn't have the combat skills and strength in the Force necessary to become an Inquisitor, so he became an Emperor's Hand instead. And he discovered that assassinations were the work he'd been meant for all his life.

The second one is almost exactly the same, tailored for the state of the galaxy in the sequel trilogy Jacob left home at 15 standard years old, and became a certified starship technician for CEC and Vekker Corp., usually working as a ground mechanic, but sometimes as a shipboard one, in the Western Reaches and occasionally in relatively nearby parts of the Outer Rim and Wild Space. I haven't decided the exact circumstances under which he first came in contact with Kylo Ren, but he was basically pressganged into the Knights of Ren because Kylo thought he could make something of him. Which, it turned out he was absolutely right about. Jacob became the first Knight who wasn't originally a student of Luke's Jedi school, and eventually, the best assassin in the First Order's ranks. He's also honed his engineering skills, and developed a line of miniaturized surveillance droids that are starting to find their way into the First Order's arsenal; he also holds a patent for a sensory deprivation tank - more specifically, for the unique control and monitoring system he developed for it - which is currently licensed to one of the First Order's major medical equipment contractors.))

A TIE combat pilot, slicer and intelligence operative, Shea le Hivre had been surprised to be assigned to a relatively simple mission — to ferry some scientist to the Inner Rim world of Myrkr. She’d heard about Jacob Johnson and his work on the Order’s sensory deprivation tank technology, but she wasn’t really sure why she had to be the one to accompany him, since countless other pilots had made stealth runs into Republic territory.

Until she found out what Johnson was going to Myrkr for: to capture and study ysalamiri, nature’s sensory deprivation technology for Force-sensitives.

Something coiled in her gut when they touched down on the planet’s surface, and she let out a breath to steady herself. While she’d never flaunted her sensitivity, and most especially not in the vicinity of Kylo Ren and his Knights, she’d been pretty liberal in her usage of her more subtle Force abilities. To have those abilities impaired made her uncomfortable, put her on the edge.

“Dr. Johnson?” she commed from the cockpit, her jaw tightening. “We’ve landed.”

Jacob, on the other hand, had a look on his face like someone who'd suffered a terrible bout of food poisoning and now realized the worst of it was finally over. His relationship with the Force was a... complicated one, and while he thought he had come to terms with it, with the way he was bound to the dark side, being truly alone inside his head was not the unsettling experience he'd expected. For so many years, he'd wanted nothing more than to just be normal, and now that he could experience just that, it was an incredible relief.

Maybe he could just... disappear into the jungle, and stay there.

Shea's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, however, and he had to fight to suppress an amused smile when she called him Dr. Johnson. He always liked it when his cover identity was much more impressive than the real thing. "I felt it," he replied. "Any sign of our contacts?"

They were supposed to be meeting with locals, members of the Karrde Coalition, who knew how to deal with the native fauna, and could instruct them in the delicate process of getting ysalamiri off of their host trees and onto the nutrient frames Jacob had constructed without mortally wounding the little creatures.

Her first reaction had been to reach through the Force to scan the area for their contacts — only to realize a moment later that she was grasping at nothing. How strangely empty the world felt, when it was devoid of the Force; or, perhaps more appropriately, when she was without it.

She peered out the viewscreen, her gaze flickering between it and the camera feeds. "Not yet, no," she responded, fighting to keep her voice level. The feeling that this was all wrong continued to gnaw at her, and she hoped she would acclimatize to it soon because she really didn't like it. "I can go outside to check. Did they leave you any instructions?"

"They left the address of a contact point in Hyllyard City, but they did also advise that they might be up to two hours late to rendezvous with us near our landing coordinates. I wouldn't be too hasty to move just yet." He made his way up to the cockpit, to see how his pilot was faring - on the flight in, he'd sensed brief... flickers from her, ones that made him wonder just how Force sensitive she really was, and if she was even aware of it.

Jacob was good enough at reading people even without his connection to the Force to know that right now, she was just about ready to climb out of her own skin, if he didn't find a way to distract and redirect her. "I'm not worried at all about staying here," he reiterated. "The high metal content of the planet's native vegetation means that unless someone nearby knows exactly where to look for us, our landing site won't be found. We can enjoy the peace and quiet for a little while, for a change."

Well... it would've been a welcome change, the peace and quiet, had the circumstances been different. Because peace and quiet wasn't how the First Order operated, most especially with the growing war with the Republic's guerrilla faction, the Resistance. At that thought, Shea sighed. She supposed it wasn't just the ysalamiri that was making her antsy; it was the very idea of keeping still, when she'd all but been bred for action and war.

"Copy that, Doc." She rose from the pilot's seat, stretching. "Care to join me for a drink in the mess, then?"

"A drink sounds great. Maybe, while we wait, you can tell me a bit about some of your other recent missions - the parts that aren't outside of my security clearance, anyway. I imagine this one has to be a little bit of a departure in tone, and probably pretty boring by comparison." As a Knight of Ren, there was very little that was outside his security clearance, and he knew the details of most of Shea's most recent missions since he'd vetted her personally for this one; however, getting her talking about them would help take her mind off her sudden Force-blindness. With a little luck, that'd be enough to keep her from getting too jumpy before their contacts arrived.

Shea headed to the mess, pursing her lips together as she thought about what she could tell her companion. It wasn't Jacob's security clearance that was the question, really; what could she say apart from the usual flying and chasing after enemy ships? She was a fighter pilot, and as exciting as it was to be up there in space, in the thick of battle... that's all there really was to it.

From a secret compartment she pulled out a bottle of Corellian brandy, a little something from her own personal stash. It was half-empty by now, but it should be enough since they're just drinking to pass the time.

"Brandy, Doc?" she offered as soon as he came into view. "Or would you prefer something healthier?" There was caf, and she could make a decent blend of hot chocolate. Something she'd learned from her past life, she supposed, though she remembered none of it.

"Caf for me, thanks." Jacob had always hated the effects of alcohol, and out here, with his access to the Force blocked, he'd be stuck with them for much longer than he'd like. "But I'm not going to judge if you decide to go for the brandy. After all, you probably won't have a lot to do here, right? Not until after we leave with our specimens." He was debating, off and on, whether to poke at the other native species with a connection to the Force, the vornskr; he supposed it'd be inevitable that he'd have a passing encounter with them, but dragging Shea into it was probably unlikely to yield additional scientifically relevant results. Not screwing with her for the course of this mission was probably best.

That Shea liked to drink was something that was really because of the Force. She wasn't completely immune to the effects of alcohol, but it somehow made her tolerant enough that it was difficult for her to get drunk; or if she did, it meant she could recover from hangovers rather quickly. Now, though, she was mostly intent on calming her nerves, still largely unsettled by the sudden absence of the Force in their immediate vicinity.

She was back in no time with a cup of caf for Jacob.

"I don't normally drink on the job, but yeah, there's not much to do around here. I promise I'll stay sober." She lifted her glass of brandy, which was only half-full, at his direction, as though in toast. "Do you think you'll find what you're looking for here, Doc?"
