That revelation -as well as actually being given the weapon- was enough to have Kay's diodes dimming briefly again in that suspicious squint. Unless they were specifically scanning for weapons it wouldn't register as anything other than just another part, perhaps something that had come loose from where it belonged, or maybe something spare to have a replacement on hand for something that was showing wear.
