Kay knew enough not to question any given alias, and if he was surprised by being addressed directly he didn't show it, just nodded once and in a gesture that would have surprised anyone who knew him -except probably Cassian- he just said: "Thank you. Once my friend here is settled, I will take you up on that."

So it turned out that Kay did have some kind of manners in there, somewhere, even if he only used them when it was convenient.
