OPEN RP POST • STAR WARS MINGLE ⭐️

whatever it is you've been doing
you are now in Canto Bight!

That's right. It's just like those jamjar games. One moment you're minding your own business, and then... poof!
You're in Canto Bight for no apparent reason.
(Or you've always wanted to be here, and you finally did it. Whatever, we're not the cops.)

That's not the weirdest part, though. Because you might be seeing double.
It's like the time-space continuum collapsed over the city
and now doubles and multiples of you or people you like hate want to kill know are appearing.
So go have fun with that!

HOW TO PLAY:
    • Toplevel your character. Different version/AU, different toplevel please.
    • Add a short background or link to an info post, and indicate prefs. TELL US WHAT KIND OF SHENANIGANS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. Shipping, smut, family reunions, dark side shenanigans, murder, a Ben Solo smackdown...
    • Troll Reply to others.
    • Lather, rise, repeat.
    • Please note that while the intent of this post is for characters from various Star Wars verses to mingle, you don't need a Star Wars character to play! All characters are welcome — characters AU'd into SW, characters having interacted with SW characters in games and memes, fandom OCs, ship babies, etc.
    • Have fun and be excellent to each other! ♥

"I think we'll survive without them along," Garth'zel says dryly. "Figuring out the tracking issue is just a tad important in order to avoid them just following us to wherever we decide to go next. I think both of us have mental lists of suggestions on various places to go." He shrugs slightly. "If they hadn't tracked us here however they did it, who knows when--or if--they would have figured out we'd gone here, since I believe there's no reason whatsoever to think that anyone besides Anakin would have thought of this planet as one to go to?"

In other words, they have a couple of people to help make their movements unpredictable.

He gives them a wry smile. "We'll try not to step on toes, but well, he is fresh from a war he was a General in and I also used to be a rather high up authority figure elsewhere."

He suddenly gives them a cheerful smile. "I'd love to have seen their faces when Anakin did whatever it was he did that got my ship and the gunners banged up. Something typically him, I'd guess. While I'm thinking about it, are there any fighters short a pilot he can borrow for his antics so he can be flying something actually meant to be flown by insane fighter pilots?"

"Yes, it is." And Statura, Leia's sure, can figure out at least what happened. From there, how to interfere with it, ideally.

"As far as our maps are concerned, this planet has nothing on it. Knowing that wasn't true...it's a good choice." At least, if they're not about to be haunted by angry Force ghosts.

"As long as you don't question me in front of the others," Leia says, shrugging, "I'll take any suggestions you have. We're a small force, smaller than the Rebel Alliance was. We can't afford losses."

Amilyn is the one that returns the bright grin. "Oh, we'll have to talk to our own insane fighter pilot about that." Leia shoots her friend a look, rolling her eyes slightly.

Dealing with angry Force ghosts is a specialty of Garth'zel's. Any who decide to make trouble are likely to be effectively eaten. Even if it's a technique he'd rather not use again.

"I do know how to respect the chain of command in public and raise my issues in private; that being something I learned fairly early on as an apprentice," Garth'zel says dryly. Given that he knows that Leia has to sense the Dark Side around him even if he wasn't actively using it, hearing he was an apprentice rather than a Padawan shouldn't be a surprise. "Anakin's... not as good at that and I may need to either metaphorically or literally stomp on his foot a few times." Just a little advanced warning about 'He Who Doesn't Think Before He Speaks With A Side Of Poor Impulse Control'.

"Saying it might be a bad idea to let them meet where the peace of mind and sanity of anyone not them are concerned?" Garth'zel asks, amused.

She does, but Amilyn had encouraged her to not worry about it until she had to.

"He is the one who got it in his head to attack a Dreadnought by himself in an X-wing." She might have believed in his ability to pull it off, and he definitely did, but he still was insane to think of it.

Garth'zel just facepalms for a moment. "That's definitely something Anakin would do. I foresee the two of them combined driving people who aren't them to drink."

Joy. Just what his liver and liquor cabinet needs.

Anakin doesn't actually need to look for the mallets, he knows where the tools are. He needs a minute to calm down, so he walks back in time to catch Garth'zel's last remark. "Pretty certain you already say I do that once a week, at least."

Probably because he does.

Turning to Leia, there's still a quick moment of him wrestling with his expression before he manages pull polite and formal smile. "General Organa, it is an honor." He manages to keep his voice fairly even but there's still a wobble to it in the end. He's trying.

Leia had a bit of time to prepare herself for this--at least as much as she possibly could. It had never crossed her mind that this would be a possibility.

Even if she'd thought she was ready to deal with this, it's one thing knowing that an encounter with the time-displaced man that was her biological father is going to happen, and it's quite another for it to actually happen. She's calling on all her not-inconsiderable diplomatic training to keep a calm face, but her mind is racing either way.

"Thank you for your assistance, General Skywalker." When in doubt, fall back upon respect and formality.

"I need to restock my liquor cabinet far too often because of you. It's a wonder Kenobi's liver survived you," Garth'zel says dryly. So much for his drinking being an 'every now and then when relaxing or whatever' thing.

He shakes his head slightly. Time to get back on topic. "This trip is just us; the other two originally planned are busy with their respective responsibilities right now. If there's time later, there can be another trip for them." Assuming they show interest.

He hands out a hand for one of the mallets to be added to his bag. Come on, let him get that last thing packed so they can get moving.

As he hands the mallet over, Anakin remarks back - "He thought I was adorable thank you." It's not actually true, their relationship had been rocky when he was young, but he's feeling a little prickly about it in present company.

"That's fine. It's not like I sleep much." Although he'd probably be in the enginneering hanger rather than the 'working' part of the temple.

Turning back to Leia, he bowed his head. "General is fine, if you'd rather." If it hurts to call her Organa, what does he feel? It's only part of why he offers his arm - his left arm - to Amilyn. Garth'zel holds a higher rank, as does his daughter. Despite his actually being the one who should lead.

[personal profile] viceadmiral 2019-08-26 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Smart of him, really. Amilyn smiles and takes his offered arm with no fuss at all. It's not that she's insensitive to how Leia's feeling--of course she isn't. But just behaving normally seems to be the best course of action. They're going to, possibly, be here for a while after all, all together.

Leia nods in response. "Thank you." Let's take this slowly. She'll...be civil, at least.

Garth'zel stuffs it in the bag, closing up said bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He also gives Anakin a Look that should clearly convey how truthful he thought Anakin's own comment about Obi-Wan was.

His right arm goes out for Leia since he has no reason to be twitchy over it. He'll just not be commenting on Anakin's choice of partner; it's probably for the best to keep a certain amount of space between them. "So. Where are we starting?"
turnedforher: (Default)

[personal profile] turnedforher 2019-08-26 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
He catches the look, but ignores it. He might rail about Obi-Wan to Padmé or Garth'zel in private but they are damn sure not in private now, and Anakin is feeling protective of the man who raised him.

But Amilyn on his arm, Garth'zel and Leia behind, this is a type of formality he's at least familiar with. "I thought the enginneering hanger - it's heavily secured, but then the crews can start to tackle repairs and rebuilds, then the main Temple enterance, branch into the side chambers and sleeping cells, then head deeper into the Temple in case the First Order does brave the debris cloud and we need to pull in. Unless there are objections?"
viceadmiral: (Default)

[personal profile] viceadmiral 2019-08-26 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good thing he doesn't, really. Leia might not have known Obi-Wan personally for a very long time, but he did give his life to enable them to escape the first Death Star. She's slightly uncomfortable taking Garth'zel's arm--no offense, it's mostly because she doesn't know him well and has had a really, truly horrible few days on top of the last few years.

Amilyn, though, is ready to do her best to break the tension. "That does sound like the most logical route. You did say that we might have to bridge some gaps--is that just due to the age, do you think?"

Or did the Jedi booby-trap this place? That would be interesting.
neverwantedtobesith: (In a good mood)

[personal profile] neverwantedtobesith 2019-08-26 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably the age of the place, yes. I don't really see the Jedi leaving traps here, there, and everywhere," Garth'zel says in a vaguely amused tone. "If this was a Sith Temple, there would be absolutely no way I wouldn't be investigating things on my own to make certain there wasn't anything nasty to trip."

He shakes his head slightly. "There was a place that belonged to the Sadow'een--that is, elite assassins who served Naga Sadow--on Hoth and getting in was tricky due to traps and ancient droids that were still functioning." He makes a face. "I got a little fried by one because there wasn't a way to avoid the damn thing; just set it off. Anyway. I had to fight off the droids while an archeologist that I was borrowing--and ended up keeping--dealt with the trap on the door. I honestly have no idea if it's still possible to find or if ice and snow finally filled up the way to get to it."

Not entirely germane, but hey, it keeps the attention off Anakin and his bag of issues, so.

Anakin loves Obi-Wan - so much did that his disapproval hurts to the point of it being almost physical pain, but his strict critism, occasional public dressing downs that were nothing but humilitating, and cool Jedi affection had not only made Palpatine's warmth and praise something Anakin craved but had in its own right left Anakin with some psychological wounds hec was only begining to understand. And that was without touching the disaster that had been his handling of his mother.

"The Temple was built over the course of two centuries, around eleven hundred years ago and needed repairs during the Clone Wars we didn't have the manpower or resources to do." Still, he listens intently to Garth'zel's explanation as they walk, easily guiding them through the overgrown brush until they can see the hanger opening - blocked by a thick tangle of vines he knows from experience will take a vibro-ax to cut through. Or lightsabers. "Eh. Might want to let us cut a path." They could vault the patch. The ladies could not.

[personal profile] viceadmiral 2019-08-27 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Is...is Amilyn looking disappointed that there won't be any booby traps? (Yes.) She's encouraging the conversation, while Leia seems fondly exasperated by her.

"Oh, fascinating! We used Hoth as a base back during the Rebellion, so I think it's completely buried now--would have been in reports of the planet if it wasn't, I'm sure. We certainly didn't use any existing structures to build Echo Base."

She also looks game to try climbing the vines, but Leia's more practical nature is going to win that particular fight. She's too old and tired to go vaulting and/or clambering over any vines, and they're going to have to cut them down anyway.

"Please do."

"Mmm, my little visit was around thirty-six hundred years ago, so I'm not surprised. The temple itself, assuming there's anything left of it, would be five thousand years old. Maybe slightly older." Yes, there is a lot of time involved there.

He gently disengages from Leia to head towards the vines, pulling out his lightsaber. "Anakin, which side are you taking?" So he can hit the opposite side.

"I assume snow and ice are like sand and shift a great deal too." Not that. He's familiar with trying to trudge through snow and ice towards a fixed point or anything. But he still gives Garth'zel a little look that all but screams 'don't you DARE'. "But I'd assume something is left?"

Anakin watches, taking his saber in his left hand and motions with the butt end of the hilt - he might be right handed but was trained to be ambidextrous with his saber - injury only honed that training. "I'll go left."

"Oh, yes. It blows and drifts, and Hoth is also very windy. A lot can change in 36 hours, never mind 3600 years."

Leia feels calm enough to chime in. "It's awful. No one liked Echo Base but you, Amilyn."

"Well, the acoustics were lovely."

"I doubt you had any easier a time trying to keep things from freezing than we did. Besides Talos, I also borrowed the only probe droid that didn't freeze solid. That, unlike him, the Service did get back," Garth'zel calls back, heading where Anakin directed him, igniting his lightsaber and sweeping the blue beam through what seemed to be the best place to minimize the amount of work on his end and make it easy for everything to be moved out of the way.

"Acoustics?" Anakin can and does sing well, so leave it to him to latch onto that word of the exchange.

"Why give the Droid back? It'd probably freeze left there." Anakin sweeps his own lightsaber, using his right hand to sweep the cuttings further to the left. "There shouldn't be any droids here. We did use them in the Temple and on some other sites but not all of them. It was considered a duty of the Masters to upkeep this Temple."
