OPEN RP POST • STAR WARS MINGLE ⭐️

whatever it is you've been doing
you are now in Canto Bight!
That's right. It's just like those jamjar games. One moment you're minding your own business, and then... poof!
You're in Canto Bight for no apparent reason.
(Or you've always wanted to be here, and you finally did it. Whatever, we're not the cops.)
That's not the weirdest part, though. Because you might be seeing double.
It's like the time-space continuum collapsed over the city
and now doubles and multiples of you or people you
So go have fun with that!
HOW TO PLAY:
- Toplevel your character. Different version/AU, different toplevel please.
- Add a short background or link to an info post, and indicate prefs. TELL US WHAT KIND OF SHENANIGANS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. Shipping, smut, family reunions, dark side shenanigans, murder, a Ben Solo smackdown...
TrollReply to others.- Lather, rise, repeat.
- Please note that while the intent of this post is for characters from various Star Wars verses to mingle, you don't need a Star Wars character to play! All characters are welcome — characters AU'd into SW, characters having interacted with SW characters in games and memes, fandom OCs, ship babies, etc.
- Have fun and be excellent to each other! ♥

He nodded acknowledgment and stood to gather his clothes from the dryer. "Anything happen meantime?"

Certainly, that kind of thing might have been worth noticing if whoever it was hadn't definitely been turned away, and while there was a small chance that they would return, it was small enough not to be any actual concern.
ooc - ages late with donuts and blue milk

I have also just flung you a friend request over on Plurk for ease of conversating.]

Friended! :-) The drama happened on plurk so I've been staying away for a while—if you ever want to reach me more quickly than I'm checking plurk, PMs to this journal will get my attention!
Is there any new direction/development/setting/anything that'd interest you with these two? :) I can certainly see them commandeering a ship… maybe getting into a somewhat vigilante lifestyle…? That's just my first thought, I'm not married to anything.]
no subject
And now I just cracked up at the idea of them falling into the 'wrong' timeline and becoming well-meaning mercs. Mostly because it's the kind of thing they'd do.]
no subject
Hehe! For sure! I don't know if they'd steal a ship… maybe try to repair/cobble together their own in a city dump IDK?]

I mean, he'd also be fine being allowed to use his predictive analytics and whatnot to just win them some money to buy one of the impound auction ships.]
no subject
HAHA oh that's also a fun thought…!]

But he'd definitely be better at just y'know, liberating one than getting the moneys to buy one.]
no subject
Yes, agreed! Lessee… I can see picking up where we left off to get into that line of planning, or we could jump ahead…? I'm eager to do whatever you want to do, if you have the slightest preference!]

see also: yes always! I actually have her up in the witchmeme from a while back, but it's still a good link.]

Oooh nifty! /checks out link :-) /
Thank you again for being understanding and awesome! I'm looking forward to scening with you again :-) ]
and now it's afternoon instead of morning because I was busy doing some adulting
The decision was made that they could still help, just not as directly as they had been. Which meant they were going to have to reinvent themselves which wasn't going to be all that easy, given as how it wasn't like they were easy to miss or mistake for someone else, and that meant they were going to need to get themselves well and away from where they were now.
Which was where the next problem cropped up: transportation. They no longer had a ship, or easy access to one, nor could they risk relying on somewhat rusty pickpocketing skills, or more direct threats or even an entirely direct hijacking. Which was what -in a sort of roundabout way- had led to Kay's utterly incredulous: "You want to indebt yourself and me as labor for passage on the first ship leaving the system?"
D'aw, adulting, who wants that? ;-) It's splendid! Muchas gracias!
I mean, people who want to be able to make dinner, I guess?
Of course, he knew that the man was going to need more than that, which was why he actually said: "Why would we go to that kind of trouble when there's an impound lot full of perfectly serviceable ships at the far side of the racetrack?" It was a well-guarded impound lot, but they'd talked their way into well-guarded places before, and sometimes they'd even managed not to get caught.
D'aw, dinner, who wants—? Nah, nevermind, that's a good point. ;-)
That was a better idea… but—even lacking Kay's superfast calculating ability—Cassian's mind went to the same place. "Not sure our current state will be conducive to talking our way in, this time." He hesitated, doing his own (slower) calculations. "Same play might be worth trying… gambling-wrecked, hung-over millionaire and bodyguard." Would explain Cassian's complete lack of gear and incomplete wardrobe: someone who'd been betting beyond his means for more than a night. "Make ourselves such a frustrating headache, complaints and demands, they bend regulations just to get rid of us."

Or at least off-planet and mostly free which was close enough to the same thing.
"Is there a particular model you think would suit us?" He was fairly sure that they were mostly going to be pleasure yachts and small transport shuttles, maybe with a few others thrown in, depending on who'd needed collateral against a debt.

Cassian heaved a sigh and got to his feet. This was not his favorite kind of ploy. "All right. To do this properly, I should get a bottle of something." Slosh enough over himself to reek of alcohol; leave enough in the bottle to splash all over the guards when he waved it at them. Weaponize disgust; lingering distraction.

A thoughtful buzz, not quite a hum followed as if the next calculation actually took an effort, "Depending on how robust their security is, the replacement may take as much as five minutes, can you stall that long without getting arrested?" There was something like amusement in the question, the same near-deadpan as 'a lot of noise for two people just blending in' because he was well aware of Cassian's track record, and while two or three minutes was usually doable -and the information update might only take that long- any longer than that was where things got dicey.

(Theoretically? Since when? He'd proven it, multiple times.
…but that was PRO. Pre-Rogue-One.
Pre-Jyn.
Pre-having that casement around himself crack and shatter. He hadn't thought about whether he'd ever be able to lie like that again. He hadn't expected to find out. He wasn't supposed to survive.
Okay. Shh. Later.)
Cassian rapped his knuckles lightly against Kay's side as he passed him, en route to some promising-looking crates. The third one he checked had what he was looking for: bottles of Corellian brandy.
His mouth twisted a little, not readable to most beings in the galaxy; perfectly readable to Kaytoo. A grimace of guilty self-disgust. But Cassian didn't let it go further than that before handing the bottle to Kay. "Ymya might be fine giving us more than she already has, but I don't want to test it. You smuggle this out?"
no subject
"The ship is currently registered to a Jovie Breagle, luckily human, that will save some time." If he only had to change an ident photo as opposed to everything it would pare down time needed. Another thoughtful buzz followed, nearly a hum, "There is a room connected to the records and two tournament games yesterday. No movement for the past twelve hours." No room service orders, no registering for tournaments, apparently not leaving -or perhaps not having returned to- the room in question.
There would be a risk there, and Kay took a moment to calculate the risk/reward balance of just replacing the registry wholecloth with one of Cassian's usual aliases versus just changing the picture and forging a check-out plus payoff for the shuttle. Finally what he concluded was, "It will be easier to just claim their identity, but more of a risk if it doesn't work as intended."
