He's almost impressed by the ruthless side that Jane displays. Almost as he's been on the recieving end of Force Lightning once too often, and he'd rather not experience it again. Seeing Jane use it feels almost like a warning to him: this can be used against you.

He is behind Jane as they sprint to the ship, throwing an arm out to send all remaining troopers flying backwards.

"Hell no!' Hannah isn't going to distract her children by getting into an argument over the comm, but she's also not going to leave them behind. She has both of her children back and she'll fight to keep it that way.

Anxiety weighs heavy in the pit of her stomach as she waits for them to board, having done and triple checked everything except actually lifting off. It doesn't take the Force to pick up on the feeling of death breathing down their necks, a feeling that reminds her of running from the Empire all those years ago.

From the copilot seat, Chewy whines his distress over the situation.

"They'll be fine. We had plenty of close calls," Hannah says firmly, though it's as much to reassure herself as it is to reassure him.

Hannah's hand hovers over the controls to close the door the moment Jane and Ben set foot in the ship.

Oh, he made it - just. Ben stumbles through the ship, deactivating his saber, and watching as his sister does her best to run far from him. The guns... where even are they anyway? He was still a decent enough shot, he could help.

But judging by the looks of suspision he was getting from FN-2187 and the girl, maybe that wasn't the best idea.

The ship's off the ground the moment Jane calls out to her, Hannah guiding them up and away as fast as she can.

"Come on girl, for old time's sake," she encourages the Blackfyre. There's nothing like a little life or death situation to really get your adrenaline going, but if she's completely honest it feels good to be in the seat of her favorite ship again. Hopefully they live long enough for her to really appreciate it.

She can't help but flash Jane a little grin. "Always hoped you'd be my copilot one day."

And then she flips on the ship comm. "The rest of you make yourselves useful."

seems fine with me!

Ben watches, lookng around the ship with that strong sense of nostalgia. This was the Falcon mark two, alright, and of course Jane would do that. That ship was home to them more than any of the planets they had spent time on. He had more memories of running around it than anywhere else.

That makes him realise that he knows exactly where the guns would be, and he does turn in that direction. Only to watch FN-2187 run in that direction himself.

... Alright, then.

If they weren't the First Order's number one enemies, they're sure to be be now. Everything's falling into place and Hannah keeps waiting for an explosion of fire behind them, but she knows that taking her son back is likely to anger them more than the destruction of their weapon.

The ship shudders as they take a hit. Hannah does her best to be an unpredictable target, weaving one direction and then the other. The ship's older than any of them but that doesn't worry Hannah. With all the modifications and a good pilot they can outrun anything.

She's tempted to loop back, giving them a good angle to take down the Resistance ships but she also knows it's smarter to get as far away as they can. Everything could still go terribly wrong.

He's been simmering silently since he found her gone, silent and mostly internally so only Jane really felt it. Outwardly, he's been stoic and focused, helping where he could with the evacuation and everything going on. He's good at falling in line when he has to, at following orders or directions in situations like this.

It takes a moment for Luke's comment to sink in though because despite being angry at her for leaving him after swearing they'd do this together, he can feel her being overwhelmed and it's natural instinct for him to slide through their bond and offer her that steadying presence. No matter where they were, he's always there for her when she needs him. He'll just chew her out when she's back, safe in his arms. There's the faintest tease of stubborn wife for her too, if only because the teasing is just how they roll in tense situations.

He frowns though, as the words register. "Not without you." While he's good at following orders, he also knows that this one thing is worth fighting for. "We're both needed when they get back." Because he's not falling and dying, but he's also not leaving Hannah to come home to losing her husband either. The whole point was to bring the family together, and that includes Luke. He moves a few steps closer, up next to Luke as he watches people move to evacuate. "I'm not leaving you behind."

Ben can feel his sister reaching out into the Force. He frowns, just briefly, to himself. Last he knew, she was still with Jon. He hadn't actually been able to keep up with as much as he would have wanted - looking into hsi family too much would have made it clear to Snoke that he wasn't as fully devoted to the cause as he was making himself appear. Was Jane reaching for Jon?

The last he'd seen Jon, well, that had been the fight at the Academy. This was not going to be a good re-meeting. He blinks slowly, looking up at the girl - Rey, he reminds himself - and shrugs.

"I think our job is to just sit down and be quiet," he snarks lightly. "Your friend took the other gunner position, and Jane's got the main. My Mother is piloting and unless we're in desperate need of someone to be patched up... We wait."

That's all the encouragement Hannah needs. They're not going to run without giving a good fight. The ship makes a hard turn and dives under the incoming First Order ships, giving Jane and Finn clear shots. "Make me proud!" she calls back through the comlink.

She's blissfully unaware of movements in the Force around her, the loud discomfort both of her children are feeling in the moment. It would be hard to miss the tension between Ben and... well, everyone else on the ship, but at least for the time being she can ignore it and focus on piloting. Once they're clear from trouble she'll handle the brewing emotional storm.

Hannah turns the ship around again, and flips the comlink back on. "Ready for another run?"

Chewie whines, calling Hannah reckless. She waves a hand for him to be quiet. "It was Jane's idea!"

He'd say he's sure he doesn't know what Luke means when it comes to stubbornness. Though then there's that comment about Jane asking him to stay behind and he doesn't say anything. Just slides through the bond to his wife with a soft Get back soon and safe for her. No matter where they are, or how she leaves him behind he'll always be there just a stretch of force away to support her as she needs it.

Catching the disk, he nods at Luke. "I'll have her prepped so soon as you step in we can take off." There's a look at Luke before he turns though. "Five minutes." The tone is almost an order. Almost. Because in five minutes, if Luke isn't back Jon may be back to drag his father-in-law into the shuttle to get them to safety.

He doesn't want to take any chances with himself, but he also won't leave her father behind.

Soon

Ben picks up on the word being passed through the Force, and frowns just slightly. Who is Jane talking to? Is she still with Jon or is that message being passed over to their father? He paused, glancing back over at Rey.

"...Depends on how you look at it. Technically she did," he shrugged, "But at the same time, we're both still here." He sighed and then looked upwards, as if inspecting the ship itself.

A smile crawled over his face.

"Yeah, yeah it is."
parsec: (Don't get cocky.)

There's cheering from the cockpit, Hannah unable to hold back the rush of excitement or the grin spreading across her face. "That's my girl." a pause, and then for Finn's benefit she adds - "You too, kid."

Starkiller Base is gone. They're all going to be okay. Any of the enemy ships that remain would be smart to turn and run. The war isn't over but the battle is. How many times has she narrowly escaped from a situation where she should have gotten herself or someone else killed? There were some good years when she was doing more racing and transporting than she was running - and she even thought Luke might step back from a life of non-stop politics. Then everything changed and Luke found himself leading a rebellion all over again. It was hard to know what to do with herself then.

She sinks into her seat, letting the relief wash over her. She can't wait to get back to Luke, to let him see Ben, to get a small break, no matter how brief it is. Then it all start to feel real. Normal, though... she thinks they're still a long way out from that. If she's honest there will probably never be a normal for any of them.

Hannah steadies the ship and glances to Chewie. "You got this? I'm gonna check on on the kids."

--

Hannah finds Rey and Ben, taking a moment to study him. She's wondered his entire life if she's a good mother. She never had good role models and hadn't imagined herself as a parent. Babies don't wait for you to be ready and Ben wasn't an exception. Maybe if she'd been softer with him, or if she'd just been a different person he would have turned out differently. She tried. That's all she can do now.

"You two okay?" she grins at both of them as she approaches, reaching out to pull Ben into a hug.

Jon doesn't get too far from Luke before everyone is celebrating, which means they don't have to slip out and can wait for their party to return. Which also means that Jon heads back toward Luke. There's a smile when some of the soldiers celebrate the victory and towrad Luke to let the older man know he won't be pushing Luke out of the base anymore.

Her voice on the line calms him a little as he leans back against the wall to watch people celebrate at the base. For the moment, the tension is broken and there will probably be a lot of partying tonight in celebration. "Hey," he answers into his com. There's the slightest growl to his voice for her, at odds with the slightly needing feel of him in the force around her. He doesn't know whether he wants to hug and kiss her when she gets back to base, or toss her over his shoulder and growl at her in private. Because with them, the growling will turn heated. It always does, and her parents don't need to see that.

"You okay?" It's the question he settles on for now, because her answer and how she's doing will dictate the greeting she gets. And just because they're done and heading back to base doesn't mean she's okay. He can feel some of her up and down emotions in their connection and even growly, his first need is her, to ensure she's okay. The tone in the question is tilted, because he doesn't just mean physically but emotionally too. He knows where they went, who they went for and who her parents wanted to bring home.

[[ooc:... actually that makes a ton of sense? though bet the idiot hasn't been able to replicate that since, because might be strong but ... idiot.]]

Well, no, this isn't the Falcon herself, but it's the nearest Ben thinks he'll ever get to the ship that was more 'home' to him than any planet they happened to reside on for a period of time. So to him, it might as well be that ship. No one will let him go home, not properly, he knows that.

He hadn't expected the hug and his whole body goes rigid. It had been... No, he couldn't remember the last touch that hadn't been a strike of lighting in punishment for failing in his training under Snoke. He didn't know what to do with it, so he stepped back, giving an awkward nod instead.

"I'm fine." It was curt, short, and clipped. He wasn't sure how much his mother actually knew of the plan, though he doubted Leia had told them a damn thing. Everything they had said to him thus far confirmed that doubt. Why was he set up like that?

A feeling of loneliness, pain, and hurt overwhelmed. He frowned, and looked round to see Rey leaving. Was... that coming from her? He squinted.

"I think she needs the help."

She realizes she's made a miscalculation the moment he goes stiff under her arms. Hannah hadn't expected him to pull away, and it stings when he does. She does her best to cover up any hint of it hurting her with her usual Solo cool bravado. One of the hard parts about about being the only non-Force sensitive person in the family had always been that they didn't buy her bullshit the way other people did but maybe some time apart means Ben can't read her like he used to.

Hannah takes a step back herself, crossing her arms over her chest and shooting him a confused look. "Her?" she motions after Rey. "She seems fine to me." Not that she really knows Rey well enough to make that sort of judgement, but Rey isn't her child. Ben's back after years of being lost to her and it's not her instinct to turn to comfort someone she hardly knows.

"Uh," she continues, still trying to navigate out of the awkward situation she's created. "Maybe I should give dad a call." Talking to Luke - that should be a good distraction.

She buzzes Luke's comlink, not waiting for him to greet her before she launches into the conversation: "Told you we could handle it."

[ Jon says that doesn't mean he forgives you Ben. >.> ]

They're bonded strongly and he's had years of them working on that bond that all she has to do is curl into him in the Force and let him in. Which, after all these years is a natural reaction to each other anyway. Which also means that he's there and offering her the comfort he can for her to burrow into until she's back at the base and able to curl into his arms. It doesn't mean they're not going to have at the very least a long, growly conversation about leaving him behind, but that conversation and growling can wait until she's feeling a little bit more solid in everything.

"Of course you will, because you're my badass Targaryen wife," he offers. That growl is still in his tone, but there's also a small smile in his tone for her as well. He's more than happy to stay in their quarters, away from Ben for a few days. Truthfully, he's not too thrilled that her brother will be coming back with her either. There's too much history there, too much to try and get over, and he's not sure any explanation will really help things now. Not for Jon at least.

There's a chuckle for that attempt at a joke and his head dips down a little so he's not looking over at her father. "Do you want me to have stuff packed and we can slip out once you're back?" He'd agree with Luke, the First Order's going to be coming back hard soon enough, but it's not going to happen tonight or tomorrow. They'll have some time to prepare, to plan. And it means they'll have time to disappear together while they sort through how they feel about her brother being home. "How pissed would your parents be if we slipped off within the first hour you're back?" Not that it'd really stop them, right? Unless Jane felt she really needed to be here for her parents, but Jon'll give her the option to slip out because he knows she needs it soon enough.

[[Honestly, Jon? Ben doesn't really care. :P ]]

He knows he did wrong by going stiff at Hannah's touch, he can feel the hurt rolling off her. Ben won't call his mother out on it, the shift to the Solo front seeming seamless but he knows that's what she's doing. She has her way of coping and he has his. He glances back in the direction Rey wandered off, eyes narrowing.

"She... I can feel it. There's..." He stops, and shakes his head. "Maybe I'm reading it wrong." He isn't, but he won't say that. At the mention of Dad, his head snaps round, waiting.

Had Luke known? Leia's plan. He had to have known, right?

Hannah's still trying to wrap her head around that fact that Ben, who was as recently as a few hours earlier was one of the most feared men in galaxy, is worried about the feelings of the young woman he hardly knows. He's worried about this girl and his own mother can't have a hug? There must be something more going on.

"Uh," she hesitates before answering Luke because he's asked some loaded questions. "More excitement than I've had in a while but I'm good. We're all fine - great. Everything's good. The kids are, uh, taking time to process the events. Separately, in different parts of the ship. They'll come around." As usual, Hannah's said too much under the pressure to handle an uncomfortable situation and once she starts talking she struggles to find a place to stop.

Ben's watching her stumble through her side of the conversation and she grabs onto that as a possible way out of having to explain the palatable tension on the ship.

Her tone softens. "Ben's right here. He can hear you if you want to say hi." Hannah gestures to Ben and then to her comlink. "He's missed you, Ben. We both have."
