OPEN RP POST • STAR WARS MINGLE ⭐️

whatever it is you've been doing
you are now in Canto Bight!
That's right. It's just like those jamjar games. One moment you're minding your own business, and then... poof!
You're in Canto Bight for no apparent reason.
(Or you've always wanted to be here, and you finally did it. Whatever, we're not the cops.)
That's not the weirdest part, though. Because you might be seeing double.
It's like the time-space continuum collapsed over the city
and now doubles and multiples of you or people you
So go have fun with that!
HOW TO PLAY:
- Toplevel your character. Different version/AU, different toplevel please.
- Add a short background or link to an info post, and indicate prefs. TELL US WHAT KIND OF SHENANIGANS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. Shipping, smut, family reunions, dark side shenanigans, murder, a Ben Solo smackdown...
TrollReply to others.- Lather, rise, repeat.
- Please note that while the intent of this post is for characters from various Star Wars verses to mingle, you don't need a Star Wars character to play! All characters are welcome — characters AU'd into SW, characters having interacted with SW characters in games and memes, fandom OCs, ship babies, etc.
- Have fun and be excellent to each other! ♥

He didn't even have to think about the response, because while he knew a good many stories about Cassian's missions before he'd hijacked Kay himself, that wasn't one he recognized, and he shook his head, "No, you haven't, is it relevant to the situation at hand?"

(To the cause they'd just literally died for.)
"How's your physical state, by the way?" Kay looked undamaged; and if Cassian was miraculously healed of all his injuries, it'd… well, no, not "make sense" because nothing did… but it probably followed Kay would be intact as well. Still worth checking in, now they'd gotten the galactic updates out of the way.

"Well within normal operating parameters." He concluded. He had been mildly surprised at first that he didn't have any blaster-bolt holes in his chassis -or anywhere else- because that was definitely something he remembered happening, but the damage wasn't there, so there was no use dwelling on it.

headsprocessorsperceptions. Leave it for now.Eighty-seven percent charge remaining. "Bet you'll be able to recharge at the hotel." (The vaguest and most casual term for it.) If things hadn't changed, they had some droid employees. Which was unusual only in that they were open about it; not at all unusual in demand.
Otherwise— "Good." I was deactivated. / Closing the vault door now. Cassian had heard, over the commlink…
Stop. Look. Look at him. He's here. He's fine. Don't lose that thinking about losing him. That's called shooting yourself in the—
"Let's get going, then." Cassian put his hands to his knees, preparing to push himself upright—then paused, changed his mind, instead ran his hand down to his ankle.
He did have his smaller blaster there. How in kark had he managed that? He hadn't had it on Scarif.
He hadn't had these clothes and had been injured and had Jyn and hadn't Kay and was lightyears away from being spontaneously here, on Scarif. Keep some perspective.
He looked around, confirmed they were alone, pulled up his pants leg, unholstered the blaster… and, no matter what he'd said before, flipped it to hand handle-first to Kaytoo. "Can you conceal that somewhere? Don't know if they're scanning people exiting but it'll be camouflaged with you, not with me."
Also, subtextually, again and again: I'm so pfassknockfeking glad you're here
no subject
Unless they were specifically scanning for weapons it wouldn't register as anything other than just another part, perhaps something that had come loose from where it belonged, or maybe something spare to have a replacement on hand for something that was showing wear. Either way it was concealed and that was the important thing.
He debated just briefly before offering Cassian a hand up, "We should go."

Which was why he didn't argue, didn't call out the sentimentality, he just said: "Yes, clearly you need someone to keep you out of trouble." Though without any of the usual sharp edges, as close to a gentle ribbing as Cassian was going to get, and in a way, Kay's own version of sentiment.

Or some combination of the above, sentiment still wasn't something he was any good at regardless of how often he tried.
He did, however, easily lead his 'drunk' charge down to the second level and out that east side exit, it was a pleasant enough avenue, really, shopping district it seemed, or shopping district this close to the casino at any rate, it probably changed further out as these things often did.
no subject
Cassian eased out of the drunk act as they continued down the avenue; no transition too jarring to anyone who happened to look at them of a given moment, 'til finally walking on his own power and leading the way. "Just a few blocks," he said casually to Kay. "Anything interesting so far?" i.e. Anybody seem to find them too interesting? No matter how good Cassian had been trained to do it, Kay's ability to scan their surroundings would always be better.

He shook his head at the question, "No, nothing yet, this area appears to be auxiliary buildings to the casino complex." Not residential, but not commercial storefronts either, probably storage or security monitors, maybe vaults.
Sorry for delay & hope this is ok! LMK, I can totally edit
The place was predictably decorated, all shades-of-red drapery. Apparently, employees wore outfits to match. A tall woman was immediately in front of them with a winning smile. "Can I help you?"
Cassian said, "Could you tell Ymya that Willix is here to see her?"
The woman tilted her head a bit, though her smile didn't falter. "She doesn't use that name anymore, but I'll tell her. Please wait here." She gestured toward a very plush couch. "Make yourselves comfortable." As not everyone, on every planet, would do, she also turned courteously to Kaytoo. "We have a charging station if you so require."
no worries my dude, life's been going crazy for a lot of people, myself included
So it turned out that Kay did have some kind of manners in there, somewhere, even if he only used them when it was convenient.
Merci buckets! - zooming along a bit but can def. backpedal
Cassian was slightly crawling out of his skin to be back here, but shot a compressed smile at Kaytoo. "Very nice."
They didn't have long before—"Will?" A curtain parted. A light-haired woman swept into the room, grinning. "Ha, you are back! We had a wager." She went straight for Cassian, gave him a solid kiss on the mouth, then stood back and looked at him critically. "No offense, dear, but you look terrible. No one's going to follow you in here, are they?"
"No," said Cassian, smiling back, though his was less charming and more exhausted. "I guarantee they won't." (They're on a different plane on a different planet in a different year in a different dimension.) "I am here to beg sanctuary. We don't have many" (any) "credits on us, but if my friend and I could use a spare room for a few hours, to rest and maybe clean up…?"
"Your friend." She'd seen too much, and much stranger, to find that unusual description of a human-droid relationship worth more than a slight smile. "Sure, honey. You can consider it our repayment for your assistance with that Brushaun business. Just don't spread it around, all right? You'd be surprised how much business we do with people who really just want a nap."
"No, I wouldn't." He took her hand and kissed it. "Thank you."
"Don't technique me, hon. You don't play a player." Nonetheless, she was grinning as she withdrew her hand, and gestured for them to follow her.
She led them to a back hallway, less lavish, bypassing many other doorways, which turned into a narrow stairway. At the top was a slant-ceilinged loft. It sported a wall-less 'fresher (toilet, washbasin with mirror, bathtub with feet, even what looked like an old clothing refresher) and a mattress on a wrought metal frame. She went to a corner filled with crates, opened one to pull out some blankets and pillows; opened another and left it so, nodding in indication. "Soap and such in there. There's an old charging station in that corner—if it doesn't work, there are others downstairs. I'm sorry there's no privacy." She mostly refrained from making any tonal innuendo.
"This is great," Cassian said immediately. "Thank you, Ymya. I owe you."
"Pffsht," she said. "No you don't; I already said, it's payback. Just make sure you say nice things about us when it comes up around town."
"Always."
She dropped the bedclothes onto the mattress. On her way out, she gave Cassian a light shove in its direction. "Whatever's really going on, you'd better actually sleep. You look like you've had a med exam by a rancor."
"Need for sleep is absolutely what's going on." Kay would be able to tell he was being honest, but also resigned to knowing she wouldn't believe him. (She knew him and his circumstances well enough that why on Fest would she? Ever?) "My love to the others—though maybe wait until after we're gone."
"'f course." She nodded courteously to Kaytoo, with another glance between them, but didn't stick around to ask questions. "Let me know before you leave."
She swept out as gracefully as she'd swept in, closing a door at the bottom of the stairs, behind her.
Nooo, is good, I love it
He watched the exchange with interest, if only because people who'd known Cassian before he had always interested him if only because they knew a Cassian that he didn't.
"Noted." Was all he said in regards to the charging station, and chances were good that he would go downstairs to charge regardless as to whether the station in the room worked or not, if only so that he could do a still-alert charging cycle. It wouldn't be as efficient, but would allow him to keep tabs on what was going on and if Cassian was potentially in need of a rescue.
YAY!! Phew, thank ye!
"Okay," murmured Cassian, more to himself than Kaytoo. Though he also then looked up at Kaytoo with a slight smile. "Think you'll charge up here or downstairs? Do you mind helping me set up, here, before you do?"
Cassian didn't have the energy to bathe before collapsing, but that didn't matter: it would take the same amount of time on either side of sleeping. Washing his clothes, though—which would be handy for being less conspicuous on the street—should happen concurrently. Which meant setting that in motion now. Also, making the bed, since getting the mattress itself filthy with direct unwashed contact would just be rude.
(Very strange, to feel nostalgic for having to just camp on bare ground out-of-doors, when a proper indoor bed was more comfortable and much more secure. However, it also took so much more prep.)
Cassian started to make up the bedclothes while nodding, to Kay, toward the crate Ymya had opened. "Would you mind seeing if there are any clothing-'fresher pods in there? And grabbing the bathing soap she mentioned?"
no subject
It wasn't something he could explain, and wasn't going to try to do so, either, "But as we don't know how we got here, it may make more sense to stick together." That was his reasoning, at any rate, and he didn't plan on being swayed from it.
no subject
But then he heard himself say it. "Stay with me. Please?"

"You have everything you need?" he asked Kaytoo.
no subject
"I'll remain on low alert. Just in case." He doubted anything was going to happen, but if it did he wanted to be prepared.
